The First $10K Academy

A note for the parents of an ambitious high schooler

You want your teen to understand the value of a dollar. Here's how they'll learn it.

The First $10K Academy is a 12-month coaching program that teaches high schoolers how to earn, budget, and save, so they walk into adulthood confident, capable, and in control of their money.

The one life skill school never teaches

Your teen is learning so much right now: advanced classes, essays, labs, test prep. But high school almost never teaches the one subject they'll use every single day for the rest of their life: money.

They can find the area of a triangle, but no one has shown them how to build a budget, earn money around a busy schedule, or tell the difference between what they want and what they can afford. And they've never been shown how small amounts of money, saved consistently, add up to something real over time.

So it's completely normal if you've noticed your teen:

  • Asking for money every week for food runs, gas, and nights out
  • Struggling to tell the difference between a want and a need
  • Spending money as fast as it comes in, with no idea where it went
  • Tuning out when money comes up at home

Your teen doesn't need another lecture about money. They need a real plan, and someone in their corner to walk them through it.

Hi, I'm Izzy

I started saving at 14 with babysitting, pet sitting, and yard work, then waitressed and house-sat my way through the rest of high school. By graduation, I had saved $60,000. Those same habits helped me buy two houses by the time I turned 20.

I've also worked as a banker and loan officer, so I've seen from the inside where people go wrong with money. Now I teach high schoolers the step-by-step system I wish someone had handed me.

Partnered with PNC Teen Banking to create money education content for teens, and currently featured on PNC's student financial education page.

Why teens actually listen

Teens have heard "just get a job and stop buying Starbucks" a hundred times. It's good advice, but it often goes in one ear and out the other. Sometimes the same lesson lands differently coming from someone who did it at their age, with the same school schedule and the same limits.

I'm not here to replace your voice. I'm here to work alongside you, so the money conversations at home get easier, and you get to watch your teen take the lead.

Built for the busiest students

Your teen's week is already packed: AP classes, hours of homework, sports practices and games, clubs, maybe a job, and still wanting a social life. The last thing they need is something that eats into their evenings or their sleep.

That's why I built The First $10K Academy as a proven system for high schoolers with packed schedules. It's designed to take just 1 to 2 hours a week, and it bends around their life, not the other way around. School, sleep, and grades come first.

What changes for your teen

Picture your teen:

  • Paying for their own food runs, gas, and fun with money they earned
  • Knowing exactly where their money goes each month
  • Saving automatically, without you having to remind them
  • Understanding the value of a dollar, because they earned it, planned it, and watched it grow
  • Heading into college, a job, or their first place with real money saved and the habits to keep it

The biggest change isn't a dollar amount. Your teen stops depending on you for every purchase and starts trusting themselves. They learn to take full ownership of their money and their future, even when life isn't fair. That means they stop waiting for perfect circumstances, like a bigger paycheck, turning 18, or a better job, and start taking control of what they can control right now.

How it works: the 5-step Success Path

In the first 90 days, your teen works through five steps with my coaching. Then they spend the rest of the year building on them with live calls, daily support, and the community.

1. Money Mindset

Your teen stops believing they're too young or too far behind to do anything real with money. They learn how money-smart people think, and they get a quick first win right away.

2. Power Budget

Every dollar gets a job, including money for fun, so your teen saves without feeling deprived. They learn wants vs. needs with their own real numbers and set a simple rule for spending with friends, since that's where most teen money disappears. The "where did all my money go?" mystery is over.

3. Income

Whether your teen has never worked or already has a job, this step is about bringing in money in a way that fits their life, not one that takes over their school nights. Using my Hustle Guide of 100 ways to earn money around school, they find realistic options that work on weekends, during breaks, or around the schedule they already have, then pick one and take the first step that same week. If they already work, we focus on getting more from the time they already put in, like better pay or higher-paying work. They learn to earn their own money instead of asking for it.

4. Save and Automate

Your teen learns how to make saving automatic, whether or not they have a bank account yet. Without an account, they use a "pay yourself first" envelope system, so every time money comes in, a set amount goes to savings before anything else. It's not a backup plan. It's the same habit that builds wealth at any age. With an account, they learn how to set up automatic transfers, so saving happens without them thinking about it. And when they're ready for an account, they'll already know what to look for and how to make it work for them.

Every dollar gets tracked on their $10K Tracker, and watching small amounts add up is when the value of a dollar finally clicks. By the end of 90 days, they have a working system built to keep them moving toward their first $10K before graduation.

5. Consistency

Most money habits fall apart once the structure goes away. In this step, your teen builds a simple weekly money check-in and a plan for getting back on track when they slip. These are habits that hold up after high school, when you're not there to remind them.

What's included

  • Weekly Cash Call: live group coaching with me every week for 12 months
  • Daily answers, Monday through Friday: I personally respond to your teen's questions with a quick video or written answer, so they're never stuck waiting between calls
  • Private community: ambitious high schoolers sharing wins and keeping each other on track
  • Personal feedback on their budget, income plan, and savings
  • Tools: video lessons, worksheets, the Power Budget template, and the $10K Tracker
  • Bonus: The Hustle Guide, with 100 ways to earn money around school

What makes this different from a book, a class, or an app

A book gives your teen information. A class gives them a lecture. A budgeting app tracks their spending. But none of them were built for your teen's real life.

The First $10K Academy is built for high schoolers, so here's what changes for your teen and your family:

  • It actually gets used. No more books sitting on a shelf or apps deleted after a week. Someone notices when your teen falls behind and helps them get back on track, so your investment doesn't go to waste.
  • They start doing it, not just knowing it. You'll see the difference in real life: your teen paying for their own food runs, thinking twice before a purchase, and checking their savings without being reminded.
  • Easier money conversations at home. Instead of being the one who always has to say no or explain the value of a dollar, you get to watch your teen make smart choices on their own, and cheer them on.
  • Peace of mind before they leave home. When your teen moves out, you'll know they can budget, earn, and save on their own, because they've already been doing it.

My 90-Day Success Promise

If your teen completes all 5 modules, posts every worksheet in the classroom, and attends at least 10 live Weekly Cash Calls in their first 90 days, and still doesn't have a money system that works for them, I'll work with them 1:1 for up to 90 more days until they do. That's my promise, because I only succeed when they do.

Why now

If your teen is a year or two away from college, the time to learn this is now, not after they've moved out.

There will never be a better time for your teen to build these habits than right now, while they're still living under your roof with little to no real financial pressure. The moment they move out, rent, bills, and real financial stakes replace this window for good. Starting now means your teen walks into adulthood already knowing how to manage money, instead of learning it the hard way when the stakes are real.

Is my teen ready for this?

If your teen showed you this page, they're most likely ready. This works best when a teen wants to learn, wants to show up, and wants to take their future seriously. The fact that they brought it to you says a lot about them already.

The investment

The First $10K Academy is $797 for the full year, billed as one annual payment. That works out to about $66 a month.

Common questions

"Is this a get-rich-quick program?"

No. It doesn't promise a dollar amount or fast results. Your teen builds their own budget, income plan, and saving habits. I coach them through it, but I don't do it for them.

"Will this encourage debt or credit cards?"

No. There's zero encouragement toward credit cards, loans, or spending beyond their means. It's built entirely around earning, saving, and living within their means, working toward their first $10K.

"Are there any additional costs once my teen is inside?"

No. Everything your teen needs is included in the $797 for the full year: every lesson, every live call, daily support, the community, and all the tools and bonuses. I sometimes recommend books for teens who want to go deeper, but they're completely optional.
